Description about Zion
Zion National Park is a national park near Springdale, Click Here For More. Utah, in the southwestern United States. The main attraction of the 229 square miles (1 E8 square meters or 593 square kilometers) National Park is the Zion Canyon, 15 miles (24 kilometers) long and half a mile (800 meters) deep. Its red and Tan Navajo Sandstone are separated by the northern tributaries of the Virgin River. Other famous features include the white throne, the chessboard hillsides, the Colorado Arch, the Virgin River Narrows.
The geology of the Zion and Colorado Gorges contains nine strata that imply Mesozoic sedimentation 150 million years ago. Warm currents, shallow seas, rivers, ponds and lakes, a large number of deserts and dry-bathed coastal environments covered the area during different periods of time.
Ecosystem
It is located at the border of the Colorado Plateau, the Great Basin and the Mojave Desert, it has a unique geographical environment and varied biological belts, allowing more unusual plants and animals to survive. A total of 289 species of birds, 75 species of mammals (including 19 bats), 32 species of reptiles and countless species of plants inhabit four areas of the park: desert, riverbank, woodland and coniferous forest.
